Page 61 DIAMOND TOOLS Glass industry - Issued November 2020 by KGS DIAMOND The electroplated discs, with a very abrasive surface, are used at the initial grinding stage for removing material from your glass piece, leaving a rough but consistent and predictable finish. Having used the metal bond discs, it is not possible to polish the surface. First you utilise the resin bond discs which will give a smooth and very fine finish on your surface after which you can polish. Discs can be supplied with various quick change options, including QRS, different adhesives, magnetic or rigid combinations. Metal bond range KGS Quadroflex™ The open structure of this pattern increases the grinding pressure per diamond, ideal for flattening larger pieces. KGS Telum® The connected pattern is ideal for smooth grinding and flattering of smaller pieces. Resin bond range KGS Swiflex® SDA This resin product is a Structured Diamond Abrasive, it can deliver rapid polishing of glass at an economical cost. This product is more suitable for small part grinding & polishing. Wet or dry usage KGS Quadroflex™ and KGS Telum® are used wet. KGS Swiflex® SDA can be used both wet and dry.
