Page 31 DIAMOND TOOLS Glass industry - Issued November 2020 by KGS DIAMOND Tech tips For large belts for stand alone grinding machines Important parameters Important parameters to achieve optimal performance Adapt parameters for optimal performance to substantially increase productivity Feed rate increase At higher belt speed Using flexible diamond belts Pulley size, crowning & alignment Water, pressure, position, filtration Back rollers Maintenance Coolant: Use clean water and additives without solvents. Keep constant flow at point of grind Pressure: Apply the right pressure for the belt settings, too low can cause glazing, too high leads to uneven wear of the belt. About 20mm deflection under tension. Position: Glass should be put into the cross belt machine in the middle. Aim at the middle of the belt for minimum firing for longest belt life, and less unnecessary wear. Pulleys: Use clean pulleys with even surface to ensure a smooth running belt. Depending on configuration, normal belt crowning or slight bevel on the outer edge. Traversing: Traverse the belt one way, then place the belt in again and traverse the other way. Check the machine instructions or contact your supplier. Maintenance: Check regularly the set parameters of the machine, this avoids unnecessary belt wear. To achieve maximum performance and optimal lifetime, it is recommended to pay attention to the following parameters in line with the machine instructions and operating conditions
